Associate Professor Dongming Xu

Dr. Dongming Xu is an esteemed Associate Professor in Business Information Systems at UQ Business School, bringing a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the field of information technology and innovation. With a Ph.D. from the City University of Hong Kong in Information Systems, Dr. Xu has dedicated the last decade to extensive research encompassing various domains, including e-learning, IT entrepreneurship, social media, business decision-making, and more.

Currently, she is actively involved in three cutting-edge research projects: investigating the spread of rumours on social media, evaluating the effectiveness of e-learning in Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), and exploring the intricate relationship between IT entrepreneurship and business performance. Dr. Xu’s research focus lies at the intersection of information technology use, innovation, and societal impact, delving deep into how information systems are utilized and how they shape society.

Her research interests span a wide spectrum, including IT entrepreneurship, social media applications in disaster management, e-finance, and e-health. Within these areas, she explores topics such as message transmission, information quality control, and decision-making infrastructure. Dr. Xu’s work extends to decision-making and business intelligence in various contexts, including theoretical foundations, applications, and technologies such as intelligent agents and data mining.

Dr. Xu’s academic contributions are profound, with her research outputs being published in over 100 top-tier journals and conference proceedings, including prestigious publications like IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering, Information and Management, Decision Support Systems, and Expert Systems with Applications.
