Dr. Mahdi Fahmideh holds the position of Senior Lecturer in Cyber Security at the School of Business, University of Southern Queensland (USQ), Australia. With a strong academic background and a wealth of industry experience, Dr. Mahdi Fahmideh brings a valuable perspective to the field of information systems and technology.
Dr. Mahdi Fahmideh earned both their B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Software Engineering from Azad University in Iran, graduating with First Class Honors. They later pursued their PhD in Information Systems at the Business School, University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia. Their academic affiliations include membership in prestigious organizations such as the Association of Information Systems (AIS), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).
In their research pursuits, Dr. Mahdi Fahmideh focuses on two primary areas. The first stream of research is dedicated to assisting IT-based organizations in effectively analyzing, designing, and adopting new technologies. This work is geared towards creating value and enhancing the quality of life for citizens. Within this domain, Dr. Mahdi Fahmideh specializes in designing novel development methods and strategies to aid IT-based organizations in their digital transformation endeavours. Notably, they have delved into solutions that facilitate business enterprises in requirements analysis, design, and system implementation, particularly in the context of modern Internet-based technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain smart contracts, Cloud computing, and big Data (ABCD technologies).
In the second area of research, Dr. Mahdi Fahmideh explores research techniques employed by fellow researchers, with a particular emphasis on design science research in the Information Systems discipline.
Dr. Mahdi Fahmideh’s research has garnered recognition from both Australian funding agencies, including the Australian Research Council (ARC), and international institutions. They have been awarded the Visiting Fellow Program Grant, enabling academic visits to renowned Information Systems research groups in Finland. As a lead author, Dr. Mahdi Fahmideh’s research contributions have been published in prestigious top-tier international journals and conferences in the fields of Information Systems and Software Engineering. Prior to their academic career, Dr. Mahdi Fahmideh spent 8 years in the software industry. They worked as an analyst programmer and consultant, contributing to the development of core back-end software systems across various industry sectors, including publishing, government, and insurance. This extensive industry experience enriches their academic endeavours, providing valuable insights into real-world software development and deployment.
