Dr. Mehrdad Amirghasemi
Dr. Mehrdad Amirghasemi, currently a Lecturer in Business Analytics at the Faculty of Business and Law, University of Wollongong (UOW), holds a PhD in Operations Research. His expertise lies in the realm of cutting-edge research, focusing on the design and analysis of (parallel) evolutionary and quantum-ready metaheuristic analytics methods. He is a pioneer in applying these methods to diverse domains such as network design, logistics, and operations research.
Despite being an early career researcher, Dr. Amirghasemi has achieved remarkable recognition. His work has been published in prestigious journals including Expert Systems with Applications, Applied Intelligence, Annals of Operations Research, Evolutionary Computation (MIT Press), and Computers & Industrial Engineering. Additionally, he has contributed to several book chapters and conference papers in renowned series such as Computational Intelligence Techniques for Green Smart Cities (Springer), Springer Tracts in Nature-Inspired Computing (STNIC), Handbook of Smart Cities, and Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS).
Dr. Amirghasemi’s accomplishments extend beyond academic research. He has played a pivotal role in securing and contributing to 21 research grants and commercial research projects, amassing a total value of over A$1.6 million. Notable among these projects is ArkiCity, an award-winning mobile application for city planning that has attracted multiple research grants and accolades.
In addition to his research endeavors, Dr. Amirghasemi is an Associate Investigator on an ARC-SRI project titled “Securing Antarctica’s Environmental Future (SAEF),” reflecting his commitment to addressing critical environmental challenges.
